It goes beyond our spending more time with each other than we do with some of our own flesh and blood. It’s understanding, amusement, acceptance and trust. It’s knowing someone well enough to intuit when a hug or a drink better fits the bill. It’s sharing stories you never thought you’d tell anyone. Listening to the latest about kids or pets. And, always, working together.

So when all of the people around us they say, can they be that close? We state for the record—yes.
